Starter templates

Templates are the fastest GitHub-free path into Gentlybot: choose a starter, open its project, and begin with a live app that is already configured.

  1. 1 During onboarding, choose a template instead of connecting GitHub. Returning users can open Templates from the command palette or onboarding flow.
  2. 2 Review the description and repository list, then choose “Use this template”.
  3. 3 Open the starter thread, pick an example prompt or write your own, and follow the live preview as the sandbox becomes ready.

A project

The template’s repositories are grouped into a project in your workspace. No GitHub App installation is required.

A starter thread

Gentlybot opens a thread scoped to that project so you can ask about the app or request a change immediately.

A warming preview

The template’s sandbox starts loading as the thread opens, using an environment configuration that is already included.

Relevant example prompts

Each template can include prompts about its own app, giving you useful starting points instead of generic suggestions.

  • You want to try Gentlybot before asking a GitHub administrator to install the app.
  • You signed in with Google and do not need your own repositories yet.
  • You are onboarding a teammate and want a safe practice project.
  • You want to demonstrate Ask, Plan, Implement, previews, and review without touching production code.

Bring your own app when you are ready

A template does not lock the workspace to sample code. Connect GitHub later, create projects from your own repositories, and keep the template as a practice or demo project.
